Novinger Tournament Tuesday Results

Brashear and Scotland County are double winners.

The Brashear Lady Tigers faced off against Bevier Tuesday in a 1st round game. Both teams struggled against their opponents defense with Brashear holding a slim 7-6 lead at the end of 1 period of play. The Lady Tigers managed to maintain their 1 point lead going into half-time up 13-12. Bevier managed to get a little more offense going during the 3rd quarter outscoring Brashear 12-8 to take a 24-21 lead, but Brashear came back in the 4th to outscore Bevier 16-6 to pick up the 37-30 win. Hailee Kelsey led Brashear with 14 points, Jessi Hill added 8, Emily Ladwig had 6, Christina Scudder had 5 points and 14 rebounds, and Caroline Slavin scored 4 points. Bevier was led by Stephanie Ashenfelter with 15, Emily Griffin had 7, Katelyn Tolle scored 4, and Chandra Shurvington and Nicole Conger had 2 points each.

The Brashear Tigers put up a 7-0 lead on Grundy County, but then the two teams traded buckets for most of the 1st quarter before Brashear pulled away to a 23-13 lead. The Tigers extended their lead to 38-22 at half-time. Brashear continued to outscore Grundy County to finish the 3rd quarter up 54-31 on their way to a 67-48 win. Brashear had 3 players in double figures. Jacob Shipman had 17, Justin Hazen scored 13, Kale Watson had 10 points, Trae Treasure added 9, Matt Thomas had 6, Kiley Watson scored 4, and Adam Songer, Anthony Ambrosia, David Anderson, and Ryan Ferdig had 2 points each. Grundy County was led by Bryce Rains with 21, Jordan Whitney had 11, Adam Buckner had 8, Tyler Jackson added 6, and Rob Crawford scored 2 points.

In other first round games, the Scotland County Lady Tigers routed Milan 52-17 and the Scotland County Tigers edged Bevier 47-46.
